Why focus on Sport?
Sometimes traditional therapy isn't where a child wants to start.
Many children and teens who could benefit from support aren't necessarily interested in sitting down for what they perceive as a traditional therapy session.
But ask them how they can become more confident, handle pressure better, stop overthinking, recover after a mistake or improve their mental game and suddenly the conversation feels relevant to them.
Sport can provide the bridge
By beginning with something a young athlete already cares deeply about, we can explore important social-eomtional skills in a way that feels practical, engaging and meaningful.
From there, connections can be made between what happens in sport and what happens in the rest of their life.
